Associate Research Scientist
The Associate Research Scientist (ARS) is responsible for performing assay development and clinical testing under limited supervision of the Laboratory Manager and/or the Laboratory Associate Director in the areas of immunology, cell biology, microbiology and molecular biology in the support of vaccine and biologics development.  The ARS adds value to the organization by applying his/her skills, knowledge and experiences to contribute to the planning, design and execution of complex, high quality, high throughput clinical assays that deliver consistent high quality results and meet client needs.  The ARS prepares, organizes and presents complex data, significantly contributes to scientific reports and publications, prepares assay-related standard operating procedures, functional requirement specifications, system validation documents, qualification and concordance study plans and provides training for new employees in laboratory procedures, instruments and assays.
 
Additionally, the ARS assists the Laboratory Manager in tracking clinical samples/data through testing, review/audit and transfer to client, setting priorities and reviewing assay trending data.




 Education and Experience: 
 
  • BA/BS in scientific discipline (biology, chemistry, etc) plus 5 years of industry experience with bacteriological and microbiological methods in a regulated lab.

  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
 

          Experience and working knowledge of standard bacteriological and microbiological methods


·         Experience and working knowledge of standard biochemical, immunological, virological methods
·         Experience conducting and troubleshooting assay in a regulated environmen
·         Ability to adhere to laboratory policies, safety procedures
·         Ability to maintain confidentiality of client protocols and study data
          Strong verbal communication skills for internal and external communications.
·         Demonstrated ability of high attention to detail and precision.
·         Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision
·         Ability to prioritize tasks by understanding the relative importance and urgency of each task.
·         Proficient in use of computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
