Overall Responsibility: Operate and maintain assigned Tea equipment within the production operation. This includes, but is not limited to Teepack Constantas, carton formers, casepackers and end of line equipment, conveying equipment, robotic palletizing, and related support equipment. Provide support to Mechanics and Operator/Mechanics in the form of basic troubleshooting, diagnostics and operation of machinery as necessary. Conduct inspections and maintenance activities as detailed by the site’s Total Productivity Maintenance (TPM) plan. Attendants must be versed in all aspects of Tea production and perform quality checks as instructed. This position reports to the Shift Production Supervisor. Job Duties (General): • Comply with all company and plant rules. Participate in plant safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities. • Support Site TPM initiatives through active participation • Operate and maintain (in accordance with TPM guidelines) all assigned packaging equipment, including assigned lubrication duties • Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of work area • Updates and changes code dates and is responsible for proper operation of equipment (casepacker area) • Responsible for safety, product quality and productivity in assigned area • Provide support in the production of tea products, this includes all repack and rework activities in area • Assist in clearing line jams as required • Restarts all machinery in area when safe to do so • Supports operation of all machinery in work area (restarts, resupplies, etc.) • Perform all assigned quality checks and assessments. Collects samples as instructed. • Completes all required paperwork for production reconciliation, HACCP, TPM and quality programs • Conduct additional activities as assigned during plant shutdowns • Make minor adjustments and repairs on equipment breakdowns as required • Contacts Mechanic or Operator/Mechanic for repairs as required • Executes all changeovers within area of responsibility. Assists with additional changeovers as necessary. • Serve on improvement teams as nominated • Assist other operators and mechanical groups in the performance of emergency repairs as required. • Provide break relief and overtime coverage needs as required. This includes basic operation of C 2000 and TN 1 machines in Specialty Tea area. • Complete all other assigned duties Job Duties (Area Specific): • Teepack Constanta • Operate five machines • Provide self-relief for breaks • Perform site quality checks and takes corrective action as required • Complete operator quality check sheet • Executes site weight control policy • Carton Former • Support assigned Technical Operator • Load blanks into carton former and maintain glue level • Inspect cartons for proper form • Check cartons for graphical correctness • Inspect date code twice per shift for accuracy and legibility • Casepacker – (Regular Tea / Specialty Tea) • Clear jams and restart equipment as required for all end of line equipment • Load all supplies for overwrap, casepacker, robot, and related equipment • Assist with staging necessary supplies in production area as needed • Confirm case code twice per shift for accuracy and legibility • Clear rejected cartons from end of line equipment and scanners Job Duties (TPM Qualified): • Complete all tasks under site TPM program • Successfully complete Teepack Constanta / Casepacker TPM assessment for Regular Tea or Specialty Tea Job Duties (Trainer): • Perform new hire training for safe, effective operation of Teepack Constanta and/or casepacker / end of line related equipment. • Conduct preliminary assessments for quality standards • Provide recommendations to shift supervision on progress of new employees • Superior communication skills • Must comply with program established by site training coordinator • Must be able to train up to two new coworkers Requirements: • Report unsafe conditions, correct if possible. • All job functions are to be performed in compliance with the plant’s safety & quality assurance programs. • Perform all work in compliance with plant lockout/tagout procedures • Knowledge and proper use of all equipment necessary to performing the assigned job. • Completion of Teepack training program or Casepacker / end of line equipment training program. • Bending, stooping, reaching, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.
