Avionics System Sustainment Engineer

About the Job

ESG is in search of a Avionics System Sustainment Engineer to support our Aerospace Systems Engineering & Support Division. If selected for this position, you will provide electrical systems sustainment support for A-10 and F-16 aircraft. The work is performed in close coordination with our Air Force customer located in Ogden, Utah. The systems supported by your effort will mainly be avionics, communications, radar, and electrical systems.

You will be researching part sustainment issues, conducting engineering analysis, evaluating reliability and maintainability (R&M) solution alternatives, evaluating form, fit, and function replacements, drafting reports and technical specifications, and recommending solutions with the end goal of increasing mission readiness and decreasing system ownership and sustainment costs. The solutions will be presented to our government customer in regularly scheduled briefings, reports, conference calls and workgroup meetings.

To be considered for this position you need to have at least five (5) years of aircraft or other aerospace system avionics or electrical system engineering experience. This experience must be Department of Defense based, ideally relating to aircraft weapon sustainment or system design. You must possess working knowledge of Microsoft office applications programs (word, excel, PowerPoint) and be able to interface with our customer on a daily basis.

All prospective applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including US Citizenship, for access to classified information.

Desired Experience: The ideal candidate will have direct airframe (F-16) avionics design experience and possess a thorough knowledge of USAF technical orders. It is also preferred that you have an understanding of Air Force maintenance processes, be familiar with USAF logistical Operations, Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSSE) practices. In addition, it is preferred that you have experience with life cycle management planning.

Education/Certification Requirements: To be considered you must have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or Avionics Integration or directly related engineering field.

One of the keys is obsolescence exp (equipment or parts becoming obsolete and figuring out replacements)
