Position Overview:

The primary role of the Benefits Analyst is the research, analysis, design and day-to-day administration of group benefit programs.  The Benefits Analyst investigates new programs, improves existing programs, and provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of benefit programs.

Responsibilities include:
  • Actively participates in the implementation of network wide projects:  total compensation, mergers and acquisitions and HIPAA, as they relate to group benefits.
  • Conducts research to determine the effectiveness of benefit programs and policies, as needed.
  • Prepares, collects and organizes data for actuarial assessments.
  • Participates
    in screening and selection of carriers based on Request for Proposal,
    on-site meetings, and comparative evaluations.    
  • Conducts
    testing as needed for plan design changes, file extracts, payroll and
    costing interfaces and works closely with all parties to ensure
    accuracy and sign-off.
  • Participates in the
    annual renewal process, including coordinating with vendors on data
    collection and project implementation.
     
  • Evaluates and analyzes possible plan design or benefit cost changes.
  • Coordinates , daily with TPA on employee benefit transactions and appeals,    carrier file exchanges,  deduction files for payroll, accident and death claims, access to reports, ad hoc reporting and   QMCSO,  customer service issues.
  • Analyzes and provides advice to supervisors and managers on methods and approaches to resolve employee benefit problems.
  • Develops communication strategies and resources to explain company’s benefit packages
  • Serves as primary contact for plan vendors and third party administrators.
  • Provides customer service support to internal and external customers.
  • Ensures compliance with COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA provisions, MHCRA, and  SOX requirements including files required for State and Federal reports.
  • Documents and maintains administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes.

 

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or Finance and three to five years experience in benefits administration.
  • Strong financial analysis abilities are required.
  • The ability to create and work with complex Excel spreadsheets is essential.
  • Experience with due diligence processes and interactions is preferred.
  • PHR or CEBS certification is desired.
