POSITION SUMMARY

Provides friendly, quality service to existing customers by efficiently and accurately processing and recording transactions, and answering inquiries regarding Rainier Pacific's products and services. Responsible for performing transactions with negotiable instruments and ensures the security of such. Develops profitable relationships by assessing customer needs through referring, limited profiling, and selling the appropriate products and/or services to meet the customer's needs. Assists branch staff, both service and sales, to ensure customers receive quality service, quickly, professionally, and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides ongoing service and support to the Branch by providing accurate and timely processing of various documents to meet the customer's needs. Provides referrals, profiles, and sales for walk-in customers. Completes requests for single services (i.e. checking accounts, stop payments, check orders, account research, etc.).

  • Processes customer paying and receiving transactions in an accurate, friendly manner consistent with banking procedures. · Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, and examines checks for valid and appropriate endorsements.
  • Explains, promotes, and/or refers Rainier Pacific's products and services in person and telephone to enhance customer relationships.
  • Cashes checks and pays out money in accordance with Rainier Pacific's policies and procedures.
  • Completes processing of all transactions and ensures an audit trail is available.
  • Follows Rainier Pacific's policies and procedures on all negotiable instruments (i.e., holds, fees, endorsements, etc.).
  • Handles, manages, and balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at end of shift and reconciles actual amounts with amounts recorded into the computer system.
  • Ensures negotiable instruments in their custody balance.
  • Removes deposits from, and counts and balances cash in, automated teller machines and cash dispensing machines (where applicable) and night depository.
  • Accepts and accurately processes customer loan payments.
  • Accurate management and security over assigned funds and negotiable instruments.
  • Provides Quality Customer Service and Relationship Sales to customers. Makes service calls and provide in-person assistance to all customers, resulting in referrals to Personal Bankers.
  • Ensure service needs are being met.
  • Stays abreast of market offerings to successfully sell our products and services.
  • Accurately completes and processes account paperwork and customer files.
  • Assists the Branch Service Manager with auditing of reports, budgets, meeting, tracking, and recording referrals and Branch audits.
  • Meets and completes established annual certification requirements, through the certification of assigned regulatory training and other assigned training classes required to fulfill product and service needs.
  • Assists the Branch Service Manager in other assigned responsibilities such as, but not limited to branch cash orders, compliance training, staff scheduling, dormant accounts, and account maintenance.

  • Exercises an appropriate level of courtesy, tact, and professional communications in dealing with others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to members/customers and other employees of Rainier Pacific. Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Required Experience

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six to twelve months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Cash handling experience required. One year as a teller in a financial institution preferred.
