Bankruptcy and Litigation Specialist

Advancial Federal Credit Union, with fourteen branches and headquarters located in Uptown Dallas, is a full service financial institution providing innovative financial solutions to individuals and select employee groups.  We currently have an opening for a Bankruptcy and Litigation Specialist

 

Responsibilities: 

The person selected for this position will be responsible for taking appropriate action to protect the Credit Union’s claim to repayment including mediations in response to notifications of garnishments, bankruptcy filings, and litigation proceedings as appropriate.  Other duties include assessing the need for outside representation and making recommendations relating to such engagements; tracking attorney costs; processing payments; filing Proofs of Claims; sending reaffirmation agreements; obtaining asset values; verifying account information; and generating written communication.

 

Also responsible for maintaining documentation and logs on all bankruptcy and litigation activities with an emphasis on detail and accuracy; interacting with members, attorneys and court personnel; conducting research and investigations; and representing Advancial in small claims court filings.

 

Requirements: This position requires a Paralegal certification, preferably from an ABA-approved paralegal education program; two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Understands and has a working knowledge of the following:

  • Legal pleadings
  • FDCPA and the collections process from start to finish
  • Federal, state and local laws relating to the bankruptcy process
  • Bankruptcy Trustee requirements
  • Court Electronic Document Filing System

 

It is a requirement of Advancial Federal Credit Union that our employees have credit current and in good standing, therefore background and credit checks will be required.  Credit must be in good standing with no collection, repossession, or charge off accounts.
