Role Summary/Purpose The Battery Design Engineer is responsible for specific elements in GEMx battery mechanical and thermal system design. In this role, you will lead projects and initiatives to develop and implement battery designs that meet business expectations.
Essential Responsibilities Execute the whole design cycle (analysis, optimization, evaluation, validation and implementation) for GEMx battery components mechanical and thermal system integration using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements Recommend approach to meet the technical and program requirements Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical performance and reliability requirements, scheduling, and contract commitments with a rigorous technical approach following business tollgate and six sigma processes Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments Participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Qualifications/Requirements Bachelors degree in Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or other technical discipline At least 5 additional years of experience in an engineering position with emphasis on system design methodology, mechanical and thermal packaging Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Desired Characteristics Masters degree in Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or other technical discipline Strong backgrounds and experience in structural integration/stress analysis, heat transfer and design for reliability Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems Experience with commercial engineering software such as CAD, Pro/ENGINEER, ANSYS, and Fluent Strong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills PC proficiency and analytical skills Ability to guide and influence others Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work Green Belt Certification, reliability practitioner Relocation assistance may be offered to the chosen candidate.Why join one great company when you can join many?
