Behavioral Health EAP Consultant I / II - San Diego, CA or Denver, CO
** Please Note: This position may be filled at either the Consultant I or II Level. Manager will determine level based upon the skills and relative experience of selected candidate as indicated by qualifications listed **
Behavioral Health EAP Consultant I
Responsible for delivering account management services to contracted Employee Assistance Program (EAP) customers. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Will manage EAP crisis and intake calls by assessing situation and determining appropriate course of action
  • Case manages mandatory referrals from contracted organizations for mental health, substance abuse, or other work related issues.
  • Tracks compliance with protocols and policies and reports utilization and case management.
  • Coordinates and manages critical incident responses for employers.
Behavioral Health EAP Consultant II
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Using appropriate screening criteria, knowledge and clinical judgment assesses patient needs and assures that medically necessary treatment is provided in a quality, cost-effective manner.
  • Utilizes skills and knowledge in psychiatric and chemical dependency assessment, negotiation, coordination, implementation, case planning, monitoring, and evaluating to promote quality member outcomes, to optimize member benefits, and to promote effective use of resources.
  • Provides employer consultation to supervisors and managers of the EAP contracted organizations to help improve productivity and healthy functioning in the workplace.
  • Ensures member access to medical necessary, quality behavioral healthcare in a cost effective setting according to contract.
Qualifications

Behavioral Health / EAP Consultant I

  • Requires an unrestricted California or Colorado license as a LPC, RN, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, or LMHC
  • Requires 3-5 years of direct psychiatric and/or substance abuse experience and prior managed care experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Previous experiences in Case Management/Utilization Review preferred.
  • Masters degree preferred

Behavioral Health / EAP Consultant II
  • Requires an unrestricted California or Colorado license as a LPC, RN, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, or LMHC
  • Requires 5-7 years of direct psychiatric and/or substance abuse experience and prior managed care experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Previous experiences in Case Management/Utilization Review preferred.
  • Masters degree preferred
