Benefits Plan Accountant (Financial Preparer and 5500 Forms Specialist)

- Provide timely and accurate guidance to client teams and clients through research and knowledge of ERISA and IRS rules and regulations from reading client plan documents, requirements provisions, and effectively use other internal and external resources.
- Responsible for completion of 15 - 20 plan financials and plan Form 5500 filings each season.
- Maintain and grow technical knowledge to keep pace with industry trends and new laws. Communicate technical concepts clearly, concisely, and in good logical form, both verbally and in written format, with appropriate parties incorporating technical concepts into the communication.
- Review work of others and deliver timely and appropriate feedback to ensure that the work is accurate and in compliance with ERISA and IRS rules and regulations and client requirements/provisions.
- Coach associates and delegate work appropriately to deliver services in a cost-effective manner.
- Implement clients using the most cost-effective delivery model and proactively notify all affected associates of new service and live dates. . Suggest and implement improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy of work.
- Recognize when other resource can provide a broader perspective and seek and apply input into own consulting. Appropriately involve resources to develop responses to questions, and resolve issues in a cost-effective manner.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA Preferred
- Knowledge of ERISA and IRS requirements as they relate to one or more of the following service areas: Form 5500 Preparation, and/or Financial Statement Preparation
- DB, DC, and HG&B Plan knowledge
- Strong finance and Excel knowledge
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
- Solid problem solving and decision making skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Solid analytical skills and attention to detail
