Biling Specialist

About the Job

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:


 


1.      High school diploma or equivalent required.


2.      Two years of college or business school courses or prior work experience may be substituted. 


3.      Demonstrated understanding of or previous experience in Insurance party billing.  Mental Health billing experience preferred.


4.      Attention to detail, ability to meet timelines, numerical aptitude


5.      Ability to successfully work with highly confidential information, i.e., knowledge of HIPPAA regulations.


6.      Demonstrated initiative and follow-through.


7.      Impeccable inter-personal skills and willingness to work positively and cooperatively with supervisor, colleagues, and all other agency personnel.


8.      Demonstrated ability in preparing and maintaining accounting records and reports


9.      Excellent communication and customer service skills.


10.  Ability to problem-solve effectively and applies sound judgment to business situations, especially during crisis situations.


11.  Ability to work independently and manage use of time with minimal supervision.


12.  Good organizational skills.


13.  Ability to plan ahead and organize time effectively

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


Lifespan Client Financial Eligibility


1.      Interpret client insurance information to determine billing priority amongst multiple providers


2.      Enter and / or update client insurance eligibility data into accounting system to ensure appropriate billing


 


Invoice / Claim Processing


3.      Preparation of billings for Medicaid and all applicable private insurances for services provided by Lifespan Clinical Services


4.      Responds timely to reimbursement rejections from payers.


5.      Prioritizes billing components and files timely claims.


6.      Maintains a working knowledge of 3rd party billing procedures with Medicare, Medicaid, MCPN and commercial insurance companies.  Notifies appropriate staff of any changes in reimbursement or billing methods in a timely manner.


7.      Acts as a liaison with CRT to resolve 3rd party billing issues.


 


Contingent Payroll Calculation


8.      Maintains database of contingent employees, independent contractor agreements and pay structures


9.      Monitors and reports on therapists’ paid events per pay period


10.  Prepares payroll calculations for contingent employees


11.  Resolves pay discrepancies as they arise


 


Departmental Backup and General Agency Support


12.  Other Lifespan Accounting clerical duties as assigned


13.  Other Lifespan support services (intake, reception) as assigned


14.  Analyze and identify time spent in current processes and procedures, and design and implement time-savings techniques


15.  Cooperate in any investigation related to personnel, licensing, accreditation or other circumstances


16.  Work cooperatively and responsibly as a member of a team with department staff and supervisor


17.  Participate in staff meetings and other agency functions


18.  Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management
