Job Title: Automobile Physical Damage Field Appraiser

Standard Work Schedule:  Mon. - Fri. 8am - 5pm


Job Summary


APD Appraisers are primarily responsible for the timely and accurate appraisal of customer reported damages through the receipt of electronic appraisal assignments.  This position is for the greater Chicago area and surrounding territory.  THE APD Appraiser must live within the assigned territory and be able to work independently from their home. First Acceptance Corporation will provide a laptop computer, cell phone, and other required equipment to ensure efficiency.


 


Essential Functions/Responsibilities



  •  Initiating contact with customers, scheduling appointments and completing on-site inspections.


  • Creating computerized auto damage appraisals on approved software


  • Review, explain, and negotiate completed damage estimates with customers and body shops.


  • Documenting the claims file using the AS-400 system.


  • Communicating with the inside adjusters and other claims staff.

 


 


Qualifications/Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED.


  • A minimum of 3 years in the collision repair or insurance industry is preferred.


  • A strong working knowledge of collision related auto repairs and estimating. 


  • Experience creating computerized auto damage appraisals on approved software with an emphasis on auto body repair and refinishing.


  • Additional experience related to the repair of mechanical, frame, suspension and other related automotive components are of added benefit.


  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) and/or ICAR (Interindustry Conference on Automotive Industry Repair) certifications preferred. 


  • Strong communication and excellent customer service skills.


  • Interpersonal skills that include effective negotiation of fair and equitable settlements that meet all recognized industry and company standards.


  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.


  • A good driving record and reliable transportation are required.


  • Candidates must live within assigned territory and be able to work independently from their home.
