Billing/Collections Clerk

GENERAL PURPOSE

This dual role will perform billing duties including preparation of client billings and interacting with clients in reference to questions concerning their billings.  This position will also be accountable for collecting the maximum amount of overdue funds from customers, which may include a variety of collection techniques, legal claims, and the selective use of outside collection services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·   Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of client billing invoices.

·   Responsible for performing collection and follow-up activities.

·   Responsible for recommending payment arrangements for unpaid 

   customer balances.

·   Maintain appropriate files, documents, and reports regarding billing and collections.

·   Produce reports, letters, and other correspondence, as needed.

·   Act as liaison between the project management team and the clients.

·   Foster and maintain positive working relationships with employees and clients.

·   Prioritize work to meet goals and objectives within acceptable time frames.

·   Carry out assigned projects to their completion.

·   Communicate effectively, both verbally, and in writing.

·   Handle sensitive information in an appropriate manner.

·   Ability to work in stressful situations.

·   Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.

·   Operate billing programs and operate within existing system(s).

·   Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED; and two years of billing, finance, or other related experience.

 

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Associates Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field; and two years experience.

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Personal computer including word processing software; copy machine; typewriter; fax machine; tape recorder; calculator; paper shredder; and other general business office equipment.
