Description

BAI is seeking highly motivated candidates to play key roles in supporting safety and security initiatives for U.S. Government biodefense research programs and related policy efforts. This individual will work as part of a diverse team to provide analysis and solutions in the continually evolving field of biosafety and biosecurity compliance and oversight.

The successful applicant will provide expertise and consultation to support the management and oversight of U.S. government-funded biological research and development (R&D) programs.  The individual will conduct reviews of those programs, identify potential biosafety and biosecurity issues, and will provide guidance and recommendations to promote best practices for agency-sponsored biological R&D activities.  The individual will advise management and research staff on compliance challenges at relevant U.S. government and contractor facilities, and will support the implementation of an agency-wide biological research compliance infrastructure. 

Requirements

Applicants must have substantive academic and professional backgrounds in the biological sciences, with minimum requirements of a Masters degree in the life sciences and at least 2 years of laboratory research or management experience. Strong written and oral communication skills are also essential for success in this position. Applicants must be proficient in analyzing complex documents and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Competitive Qualifications

Special consideration will be given to applicants with doctoral degrees and/or biosafety professional credentials.  Experience conducting research or managing laboratory operations in biocontainment facilities is preferred.  Familiarity with Federal biodefense R&D programs, science policy, and current biosafety regulations is also highly desired.

Security Clearance

Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
