Universal Consulting Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Biomedical Technician to manage the installation, modernization, and prioritizing of equipment related procurements. Support may also include travel to client sites to evaluate and make recommendations as the condition of, replacement of, or upgrading of existing equipment within the facilities.
Duties include:
- Provides mentoring of Biomedical Equipment Technicians on-site and throughout the client facilities, and may provide leadership in the management of operations and major projects.
- Coordinate special projects and perform specialized technical tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, servicing, modification, troubleshooting and calibration of biomedical systems and instrumentation including care compliance policy updates and development, health information technology equipment and medical maintenance and Information Assurance initiatives.
- Improve or make test setups to conduct functional checks of biomedical test equipment; design to connect various components of complete systems and other complex integrated clinical systems involving specialized biomedical instrumentation.
- Provide a systematic preventive maintenance program for complex integrated diagnostic systems and related biomedical instrumentation; provide engineering and technical counsel on codes to ensure compliance with safety standards; maintain maintenance records and prepare reports as required.
- Provide technical assistance and instruction in the maintenance and operation of equipment; recommend the purchase or acquisition of biomedical instrumentation or related accessories; advise of equipment deficiencies and make appropriate recommendations as required.
- Coordinate and evaluate the work performed by vendors to include maintenance, calibration, installation and verification of service documentation.
- Serve as member of the Logistics Assistance Visit team.
- Perform a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, service and calibration of a diverse range of biomedical instrumentation.
- Develop Maintenance Plans and Procedures that oversee hazard alerts and recalls on medical equipment.
- Assist in the support of preventive maintenance program of biomedical equipment.
- Document the introduction of new equipment, corrective and preventive maintenance actions and special requests as required.
- Assist in the diagnoses of equipment malfunctions by providing alterations, repairs or replacements to ensure that biomedical instrumentation meet specified requirements.
- Provide support service to the client program.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the biomedical field
- Working knowledge of common technical terms and specifications relative to medical products, supplies, and services and the ability to effectively communicate these with vendors and/or customers.
- Knowledge of clinical engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to medical facilities and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with medical equipment and/or products and their usage.
- Ability to evaluate and then modify standard practices and adapt techniques to solve problems.
- Knowledge of standard observation, measuring, and analysis techniques and test equipment
- Ability to summarize finding of others and support preparing specifications, recommendations, and briefings.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with and gaining the confidence/cooperation of managers to accept proposals.
- Experience with preparing technical reports, proposals, charts, and graphs.
- Skill in using office automation systems and computer applications including the ability to develop and implement new systems.
- US Citizen and ability to pass a background check required
