Position Description:
The Inventory Manager is a highly visible position that has direct impact on Grainger’s service vision by providing and maintaining product availability across all of our US branch locations. The Inventory Manager leads the inventory planning team which owns the stocking policy across 400 plus locations and hundreds of thousands of products. In this role we are looking for a strong analytical leader that can work under pressure. The Inventory manager will be the point of contact for our branch and sales leaders to analyze their inventory requests and to provide an understanding of cost effective inventory management, and current inventory and supply chain policies. A successful individual in this position will have the ability to establish strong working relationships, gain credibility and communicate effectively at all levels.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum ten years of work experience in Supply Chain, Customer Service or Sales.
- Demonstrated experience working with various facets of Supply Chain
- Demonstrated capability to build relationships and work effectively across business functional areas to attain goals and drive business results
- Demonstrated analytical skills to identify and champion correct course of action for the overall needs of the business over departmental goals.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills required
- Proven capability to lead large scale analysis and provide meaningful interpretation of outputs for manager, director and executive audiences with actionable recommendations
- Demonstrated ability to manage, develop and lead both individuals and groups of employees
Position Attributes:
Oversee, Manage and/or Provide For Assigned Regions.
• Issue escalation relative to availability, inventory investment or inventory deployment project/program management
• Delivery of communications to Customer Service and Sales on all inventory deployment projects and programs (Market Expansion, Seasonal, Promotions, & Reverse Logistics etc.)
• Delivery of communications to Customer Service and Sales on all Branch Stocking Policies.
• Change in branch inventory levels and availability
• Delivery of continuous education relative to Market Intelligence, Lost Sales, unplanned demand and planned demand to Customer Service and Sales
• Actions on demand side driven availability failure
• Coaching around appropriate level of engagement relative to Inventory Analyst sales support role.
• Inventory management support role in direct contact with the end customer.
• Provide coaching and direction relative to planned demand servicing options
• Development of Branch Inventory Analyst Team
Aid in evaluating recommended changes to branch stocking policy
• Continuous improvement efforts relating to leveraging planning system and processes to support various branch type missions.
