DIRECTV is seeking a Software Staff Engineer to join the Broadcast Software Engineering group. The Staff Engineer will be responsible for control of the configuration management and release processes supporting the software applications developed by the Broadcast Software Systems organization. These applications include the traffic and scheduling system, content management system and other broadcast engineering software applications. Duties will include generation of automated build scripts, installation of applications built in a test environment and generation of releases. This position is also responsible for working with the QA team members to troubleshoot and resolve any build or documentation issues.

- A Bachelor's degree in computer science or related engineering field is required. Master's degree is a plus.
- 2 years practical experience in software development and/or software test/quality assurance engineering.
- Must have experience with industry standard configuration management and software technologies.
- Experience generating Unix and Linux scripting.
- Configuration management and revision control using CVS.
- Capable of working successfully in a deadline-driven, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving, analytical abilities and solid good planning, organizational, and follow-up skills are required.
