Job Description


This associate will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting, special project spending, and financial reporting for the Company.  This job position should focus on meeting the needs of the Business Controller and Company leadership regarding general and production accounting, collections, budgets, audit, regulatory reporting, financial analysis for special projects, and meeting preparation.   


 


The associate should have skills to analyze capital spending decisions for a unique privately-held public utility company that is regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the S.C. Public Service Commission (SCPSC).  Therefore, preparation of the utility’s rate case for the commission is a key responsibility.  This company has a regulated business and a smaller unregulated business.


 


The Company will invest in renewable energy projects as it seeks to self-generate more KWH’s to meet customer needs.  This candidate will develop financial analyses using traditional measures that include net present value, internal rate of return, and other appropriate measures of project assessment, project modeling and performance measurement.


 


The associate will work with a small team of resources, in order to manage the day-to-day accounting, collections, finance, tax, treasury and regulatory reporting processes.  This position will provide information to the parent company to assist with corporate reporting needs.  The business needs will continue to evolve in this organization, and the candidate should be flexible, willing to adjust daily routines and schedules in order to meet business needs and goals. 


 


This associate will work with the business team to transition from a legacy system to a modern financial system, expanding the reporting capabilities to meet business needs.  The associate should have a high level of proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.  


 


Below are some of the tasks that this associate will perform:


·         Track revenue and expenses; report summary data to management.


·         Ensure that the financial statements reflect accurate reporting of assets, liabilities and equity and footnotes disclosures for a privately-held company.


·         Write capital budget requests for special business projects, including the project analysis and due diligence necessary for business decision-making.


·         Perform detailed financial analysis for special projects.


·         Prepare for meetings with the Board and leadership.


·         Assist with preparation of Rate Applications before the Public Service Commission


·         Assist with annual audit and filing of annual Form 1 to FERC


·         Assist with other duties in a team environment to achieve business goals.


 


Qualifications


·         Minimum B.S. Degree with accounting concentration or major in accounting.


·         MBA or CPA is a plus.


·         Good communication, technical, accounting and financial analysis skills.


·         Minimum five (5) years of experience in accounting and financial roles.
