Job Purpose:
Under general supervision, retrieves, reviews, and analyzes demographic, clinical, and supply cost data from clients according to consultants’ specifications. Participates in the analysis and interpretation of data including but not limited to identifying cost and clinical opportunities, preparing statistical and other reports, and drafting presentations. May assist in the development and implementation of new processes and data reports.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Cost Management Projects
1. Review client supply utilization data, create/modify data spreadsheets as necessary.
2. Identify average cost by supply category and cost of high-volume, “workhorse” items/systems for comparison to national benchmarks.
3. Prepare presentation/graphs based on results of supply utilization analysis.
4. Perform initial review of Charge Cost Models processed by Aspen’s Information Services department and make recommendations to consultant as appropriate.
5. Identify opportunities based on client data, proprietary comparison data, and national/regional benchmarks.
6. Build a preliminary opportunities report/presentation for consultants.
7. Initiate follow-up with clients when necessary, as requested by consultants.
8. Create repository of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) as instructed by consultants using existing templates.
9. Initiate follow-up with clients and/or vendors to receive completed, formatted RFPs.
10. Analyze information obtained in completed RFP’s. Present initial feedback and analysis in a concise, informative format to consultants.
11. Generate final reports for participating clients that identify and track actual cost savings to date and areas of non-compliance.
12. Track and consolidate bids and final pricing.
13. Maintains accountability to the consultants for the timeliness and quality of client data analysis and reports.


Support Provided to Data Management Team
1. Keep a master schedule of Aspen’s Projects Plans and Work in Process.
2. Be a source of Data Requests to Data Management Team.
3. Attend the Data Team’s weekly meeting and serve as a liaison between data analysts and consultants regarding data processing needs and timelines.
4. Educate data analysts regarding identification of potential clinical data issues and cost management opportunities.
5. Assist the Director of Data Management with miscellaneous projects and analysis.


Internal Responsibilities:
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to those identified within the Standards of Business Conduct and the Employee Handbook, as may be amended from time to time. Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations and the company's governance/compliance program.
• Responsible for reporting violations of the company's policies and procedures, Standards of Business Conduct, governance program, laws and regulations through the company's Help Line or other mechanism that may be available at the time of the violation. Assists with internal control failure remediation efforts.
• Becomes knowledgeable of internal control responsibilities through training and instruction. Responsible and accountable for internal control performance within their area of responsibility. Participates in the internal controls self-assessment process.
• Ensures concerns with internal control design or performance and process changes that impact internal control execution are communicated to management.


Minimum Knowledge, Competencies & Qualifications:
1. Two to four years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience required.
2. Is highly skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications, including but not limited to intermediate knowledge of the following Microsoft products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
3. Working knowledge of standard clinical and operating procedures in an acute care setting required.
4. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD9 codes, CPT codes, and DRG codes helpful but not required.
5. Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, is detail-oriented.
6. Able to communicate professionally, effectively and courteously, both orally and in writing.
7. Able to prioritize workload and work effectively with minimal supervision.
