Business Analyst I
JOB DESCRIPTION: Supports efforts to ensure that information systems support departmental objectives and information management needs. Works closely with departmental customers to conduct business analysis and identify business objectives and requirements. Collects information to assist in the development of technology plans and strategies. Assists in planning and implementing systems related projects. Supports customer satisfaction by monitoring the delivery of ongoing information services to designated clients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years of experience in planning and applying information technology to one or more business functions OR a bachelor's degree and three years of experience in planning and applying information technology to one or more business functions.
Preferred Qualifications
Past experience in higher education is preferred as well as experience within a student enrollment services area, such as Admission, Financial Aid, Student Records, or Student Financials. Candidates should possess effective oral and written communication skills and work well with employees, students, and parents in a professional manner. This role includes attending meetings at various campus locations. Experience with PeopleSoft Student Administration/Campus Solutions software (including tools such as XML Publisher, Query Manager), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Visio) and the Internet preferred.
Additional Job Details Departmental Information/Preferred Qualifications: This position is a functional support role for the 9.0 PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Financial Aid module and requires experience in business analysis, training, and systems support.
Responsibilities include:
* analysis of current business processes
* offering recommendations for process improvements
* preparing the system for federal regulatory releases
* resolving production requests
* answering student questions regarding the use of the university's student self-service site (OPUS)
* maintaining set-up tables for the module
* training for internal and departmental users
* writing systems documentation
* developing PeopleSoft queries and reports
* assisting technical team members in debugging problems in the software for technical and/or functional solutions
* escalating services requests of software problems to Oracle/PeopleSoft
* creating design specifications for technical staff
