Preferred Location: Louisville office or home office, or within short commuting distance to Louisville office.

Other Locations: Applicants from other areas of the US will be considered and may work from home office but must be willing to work East Coast Business Hours.

The Business Analyst lll for the Kentucky Medicaid Health Plan is responsible for serving as the liaison between the business and IT in translating complex business needs into application software. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzes complex end user needs to determine optimal means of meeting those needs.
  • Analyzes and Interprets healthcare data (member data, eligibility, premium, and claims data) for trend identification and business recommendations.

  • Determines specific business application software requirements to address complex business needs.
  • Creates and Develops project plans to address needs and trends and identifies and coordinates resources, involving those outside the unit.
  • Works with programming staff to ensure requirements will be incorporated into system design and testing.
  • Acts as a resource to users of the software to address questions/issues.
  • Runs reports.
  • May provide direction and guidance to team members and serves as an expert for the team.


  • BS/BA degree, 5-7 years of business analysis experience that includes knowledge of systems capabilities and business operations; or any combination of education and experienced, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • MS Excel required
  • SQL and MS Access preferred
  • Healthcare industry required
  • Medicaid Operations experience a plus.
