Business Analyst


 


The Business Analyst takes the vision of the Product Manager and requirements for external and internal customers and directly interfaces with the development team to software applications, enhancements, and maintenance items. 


 


Responsibilities include:


·        Work with customers and IT on the development, testing and deployment of system applications and data quality.


·        Gather and interpret requirements to establish business rules, testing and training requirements from internal and external resources.


·        Support development of a clear business value proposition.


·        Support the product manager in the daily activities and operation of product lines, projects and customer interactions.


·        Conduct market research and business intelligence analysis around new product lines and profitable opportunities.


·        Analyze and assess data usage and product performance for maintenance prioritization and compliance with service level agreements.


·        Collaborate on product launch plans and servicing requirements.


·        Participate in root cause analyses for product performance.


 


Requirements:


·        Bachelor’s level degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field. 


·        3 – 6 years relevant analyst experience:


o   Research and analysis of data, market needs, and customer issues.


o   Writing business requirements and developing business rules.


 


·        Strong research skills with an attention to detail.


·        Strong verbal and written communication skills.


·        Strong Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word and Power Point.


·        Experience in analysis, basic statistical analysis.


·        Ability to manage multiple activities in a deadline-oriented environment; highly organized and flexible.


·        Ability to work independently and jointly in unstructured environments in a self-directed way.


 


Preferred:


·        Railroad industry experience.


·        Working knowledge of SAS and Business Objects.


·        MS Project


·        Visio


·        Exposure to Agile development methodology and the SDLC.


·        Knowledge of Java and distributed web technologies and how they apply to systems development.
