Business Analyst
General Summary: Under general supervision, the Business Analyst will perform duties related to documenting requirements and defining the scope of IT projects or initiatives. The BA will work with each business unit to determine technology needs and work with IT personnel to deliver the necessary functionality to the business. The BA will be involved through the entire life cycle of delivery including many QA tasks to ensure the end result closely matches the original request. Essential Job Functions: - Undertake preliminary analyses of business requirements and use this information to scope projects (project boundaries and scale).
- Formulate functional solutions, which may take the form of new / enhanced functionality and / or adaptations of existing functionality.
- Document functional requirements and feasible solutions.
- Provide estimates or quotes, with appropriate documentation and explanation.
- Perform research and fact finding to develop or modify information systems.
- Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written or modified.
- Perform system, process and application monitoring and gathers metrics.
- Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.
- Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.
- Considers business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment.
- Carries out procedures to ensure that all information system products and services meet organization standards and end user requirements.
- Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: (Functional requirements (Business Requirements Document), Use Cases, GUI, Screen and Interface designs).
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of project managers.
- Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.
- Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Serves as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
- Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.
- Manage project change related to bug fixes and change control procedures.
- Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
- Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
- Responsible for creating and managing documentation related to business requests. This includes cohesively interpreting business needs, version control, validation meetings, and user sign-off.

- Be able to understand and translate business requirements into functional requirements.
- Possess the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and interpretation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of tools, SQL.
- Knowledge of Project Lifecycle methodologies (SDLC, RUP, Agile).
- Knowledge of Use Cases, Traceability Matrix design, UAT, UML modeling.
Education/Experience Requirements: - 2 to 4 years experience of Telecommunications Business/Functional work experience.
- 2 to 4 years experience of writing Business and Systems requirements.
- 2 to 4 years experience with MS Project.
- 2 to 4 years of UML experience.
- 2 to 4 years writing Use Cases to support both Business and IT solutions.
- Bachelors degree in technical, business or management discipline.
- PMI or CBAP Certification a plus.
