Location: MI_Grand Rapids Relocation Provided: No Relocation Offered Education Required: Bachelors Degree Experience Required: Not Indicated Position Description: POSITION QUALIFICATION SUMMARY The Business Analyst will be a highly customer-facing team member who plays a critical role in gathering and defining business requirements. The ability to listen, discern, and articulate well with internal and external customers will be a primary function of this position. This position requires a self-starter who can take charge of complex tasks with minimal direction. The selected individual will have a strong track-record of having both financial and business analysis, and industry knowledge to deliver value-added business results in a SaaS (Software as a Service) environment.
The Business Analyst is proactive, independent, and works well in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. The ideal candidate likes teamwork and creatively solves problems while balancing diverse sets of needs. He/she will work with the development team to enhance the On-Demand TMS and improve software applications through evaluation of existing business logic / business intelligence. The selected candidate must be able to translate business requirements into functional specifications. He/She will be working with developers to clarify, refine, and elaborate requirements as the technical implementation progresses. The Analyst’s responsibilities will span all phases of the product life-cycle.
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred. Certified Business Analyst Position (CBAP) preferred as well. The selected candidate must be willing to travel up to 50% within a month. This position will typically require 20-30% travel.
Key Accountabilities:
• Gather business requirements for enhancements to the On-Demand TMS and document the current state and proposed future state for processes. • Defines requirements and solutions while considering stakeholder impacts and business process changes for each problem. • Facilitate the creation of a Project Definition/Business Case as needed. • Write functional specifications that include business scenarios and references to the fit with existing functionality. • Participate in preparing training materials for internal customers as it relates to the release process and specific release items. • Take part in product/feature roll out initiatives.
Qualifications: Mandatory Qualifications: • Minimum 5 years experience in performing business analysis in software development environment. • Can demonstrate an understanding of broad business concepts with a focus on transportation/supply chain management (order through delivery and financial reporting). • Proven success in applying advanced problem solving and analytical skills to support the development of functional specifications and test plans in a software development environment. • Confirmed customer service and facilitation skills. • Proven ability to recognize and mitigate project risk • Has worked with disparate business groups to establish business priorities. • Demonstrated proficiency in communicating with both small and large groups • Thoroughly enjoys working with technology • Must be willing to travel up to 50% within a month. • Proven experience in creating training materials and conducting adult learning sessions.
Technology Expertise: • Advanced level of proficiency in Word, Power Point, and Visio • Intermediate proficiency in MS Project and Excel • Proficient with database model and structure definition • Strong working knowledge of TMS (Transportation Management System) preferred.
