Business Development Director

Responsible for developing and leading Individual and Senior Segment business strategies for Specialty Products (Dental, Vision, Life and Disability) in a rapidly changing marketplace.

Primary duties to include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzes market trends, proposes new product/service initiatives, and coordinates with Marketing, Product, Finance, IT and Sales to implement.

- Develops business plans and formulates strategies for both new and existing businesses.
- Identifies core strategic imperatives for success and defines compelling initiatives that drive growth, are strategically aligned, and are measurable.
- Directs marketing, sales, distribution, and product strategies and ensure consumer viewpoint is represented from the outside in.
- Provides oversight to key projects and pulls together data to ensure performance of strategic efforts.
- Provides research, analysis and recommendations on the external environment as part of the development of strategic plans for the business unit.
- Analyzes major competitor strategies.
- Develops relationships with large distribution partners.
- Identifies and monitors changing patterns of competition and recommends responses.
- Reports project status and progress to Specialty management.
- Acts as a liaison to other BUs/companies.

Qualifications

Requires a BA/BS degree; 8 - 10 years of business development experience in the healthcare and/or insurance industry including 5 years of progressive direct/indirect leadership responsibilities; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Masters degree preferred.

- Requires experience managing or distributing dental, vision or life insurance products in the Individual and Senior markets.
- Experience in business/product development and/or marketing preferred.

- Organizational, analytical, facilitation, consultation, negotiation, persuasion and project management skills required.
- Experience with various distribution channels (e-vendors, agents / brokers, tele-sales, public exchanges, etc.) preferred.
- Experience with Senior (CMS) regulatory requirements preferred.
- Must be able to travel at least 25% of the time.
