Business Development Managers make up the field-based Almac Clinical Services sales force and are responsible for managing business relationships with their allocated client base. They are responsible for ensuring that revenue targets for customers are met through regular face-face visits to client sites, and overseeing the preparation of proposals for client projects.
General Duties
- This position is a mixture of field- and office-based. At least 20% of representative?s time will be spent out of the office.
- Promote services offered by Almac Clinical Services and our sister companies to the pharmaceutical industry through face-face sales calls, attendance at conferences/exhibitions, and cold-calling activities.
- Liase with multinational pharmaceutical companies to define their requirements for packaging of their products for clinical trials. Advise clients on technical aspects of clinical trial packaging. Provide detailed reports of these activities.
- Ensure that financial and call rate targets are met for all allocated current clients. Meet financial targets for new business development.
- Generate detailed proposals to client.
- Working with other departments and other Almac Clinical Services sites to ensure that clients? requirements as expressed in the proposal are clearly understood.
- Revision of existing proposals in response to changes to client project specifications, and ensuring internal departments are made aware of such changes.
- Liasing with the Engineering/Design and Operations Departments and clients to produce a packaging design that meets the needs of their study and can be produced efficiently on Almac Clinical Services production equipment. Working directly with suppliers or through purchasing to ensure that any externally purchased components meet the needs of the trial, are competitively priced, and arrive within the required timeframe.
- Aiding Business Development Co-ordinators and VP Business Development in the preparation of long term business forecasts.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Degree level education, Science or business related degree preferred and a minimum of 2 years? in direct sales or sales-support role.
- Trained and experienced (min. 2 yrs) in quotation preparation.
- Knowledge of clinical trials, especially related to the packaging and distribution of medication required and experience of working with clients/other departments within Almac Clinical Services to design packaging that meets the needs of patients, investigators and sponsors in clinical trials.
- Working knowledge of all MS Office based packages and working knowledge of software packages used within the company (especially MOSES) a plus.
- Direct (field) sales experience preferable to sales support, though not essential.
- Proven ability to work with tight deadlines and evidence of ability to make judgment calls regarding pricing and other factors that can win or lose sales.
- Familiarity with existing customer base.
- Experience of face-face meetings with clients, either internally within company or on visits to client sites.
- Some experience of negotiation with customers preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure, often managing multiple tasks.
- Willing to work to client deadlines rather than hold to strict working hours.
- At least 30% of representative?s time will be spent out of the office.
