The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies to drive aggressive growth in the development of new business with defense and aerospace related manufacturing contracts. This role will use strategic partner marketing and affiliate relationships to acquire new customers and drive traffic and sales according to the company's aggressive sales plan.
Primary Responsibility: Develop, drive and manage projects and activities for new business development.
- Generate and identify new business opportunities. This includes generating increased revenues through new contracts, new partnerships and new business with existing customers.
- Perform analyses of new business opportunities including selecting RFP, RFQ and RFI opportunities to ensure they are consistent with the goals and standards of the company. Identify if potential partnership opportunities align with AGT core business objectives.
- Manage those identified new business opportunities to the degree of ensuring they are well aligned to maximize future ROI for the division.
- Develop goals and implement strategies to profitably grow the AGT manufacturing business. This includes leveraging sales and marketing expertise to develop a comprehensive business development plan.
- Develop political/business strategies. Provide guidance and leadership to teams, on a strategic and tactical level, for all business development programs.
- Plan activities, map out realistic objectives and tactics and set priorities as related to business development.
- Prepare strategic analysis for senior management. Make recommendations to senior management if the company can and should pursue further efforts in identified opportunities.
- Manage and optimize existing affiliate partner relationships to drive growth and utilizes these relationships to structure win-win opportunities.
- Lead meetings with the purchaser to determine the most advantageous quote response strategy.
- Conduct research and assessment processes. Determine competitor’s competitive position in the bid process and advise on developing counteractive strategic responses.
- Propose process improvement activities with the goal of increasing point spread on future proposals.
· Monitor and follows through on suggested improvements to the company’s proposal development process and program materials.
· Represent the company or affiliates at bidders’ conferences or meetings with the customer.
· Communicate with internal and external associates on the status of new business leads.
· Ensures the right individuals are actively involved in pursuing new business opportunities.
- Performs other related duties as directed.

Job Requirements:
Requires advanced computer skills, knowledge and application of multiple software packages to include word processing, spreadsheets, graphics/charts and PowerPoint presentations. Must be knowledgeable in MS Project.
- BS/BA degree with minimum of 10 years of experience in business, finance, project management, or engineering.
- OR the equivalent amount of education and experience.
- Masters Degree in Business or similar field is preferred, although an equivalent combination of formal education and experience may substitute for a degree. Experience in a technical or mechanical field desirable.
- Must have prior experience in business development and working with the Federal government. This includes an understanding of the processes and underlying principles of business development, project management, and project start-ups.
- Will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and responding to large complex opportunities in the defense and aerospace arena.
- Must be able to organize resources to rapidly assess and respond to large business development opportunities. Experience in Proposal Writing and Collaboration required.
- Must be able to develop and deliver proposals and convince customers to accept AGT solutions. The ability to understand and interpret basic mechanical and design applications is important. Abilities in adapting to and responding in multiple, complex and rapidly changing environments
- Excellent verbal and outstanding written communication skills are a must.
Ability to effectively interact with all management levels. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. This includes a strong ability to present to large groups and various management teams. Ability to speak at the customer’s level, including at a technical level. Self-starter with outstanding analytical, communication (written and verbal) skills. Positively influences and motivates others to establish clear, concise and common objectives and is able to create a sense of urgency within the team. Frequently involves communication requiring interpretation and discretionary skills.
