What you will do

As part of a cross functional team, this person will be responsible for delivering and implementing the sales channel strategies and delivering the results to meet the Independent Distribution Channel BAS key objectives.  In addition this person will develop a comprehensive understanding of the offering in the market, and work with product management to develop differentiated value and be a key contributor to the overall success of the business.


How you will do it

- Maintain an understanding of the key market drivers for the commercial, mid-market, and complex segment and specific vertical market offerings

- Drive a collaborative and cross-functional strategy by identifying and leveraging all synergies across internal business units

- Establish a high level technical understanding of the offerings in order to effectively develop value creation and solutions as well as feedback to product management for further development and line extensions

- Partners with Key and Target customers to reach optimal sales levels. 

- Recommends product solutions and links to customer goals to strategic initiatives to provide a value-add solution and competitive advantage. 

- Differentiates and leverages Johnson Controls product offerings from competitors based on the overall benefit of doing business with Johnson Controls. 

- Creates partnering opportunities with the principles responsible for the decision making process. 

- Actively listens, probes customers to identify concerns. 

- Understands customer's business and speaks their language. 

- Develops credibility, loyalty, trust and commitment. 

- Manages ongoing sales process and responds to and anticipates customer needs. 

- Involved in the development and execution of account sales. 

- Using Johnson Controls account management principles and Playbook with assigned accounts, conducts quarterly strategic account review sessions, Ensures that the customer fully understands and executes appropriate actions towards the co-developed sales plans to achieve the sales goals and objectives identified. 

- Develops relationships with the key stake holders (Owner, Branch Manager(s), outside/inside sales, counter manager and counter sales).

- Following our demand creation strategy, actively pursues new business in the market and drives business to our distribution partners

- Works well with territory and regional teams to accomplish sales initiatives.

- Responsible for the support and execution of the sales implementation strategies

Responsible for successful reporting of strategy implementation

Maintain an active cadence in Open Globe/Salesforce ensuring active participation across channels and manage a sustained hit/close rate to meet sales objectives

What we look for


- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Engineering

- A strong understanding of building systems, contractor and building owner value

- Master’s degree in Business (preferred) or 10 years’ experience


- Experience managing complex accounts and managing across organizational structures

- Demonstrate a strong capacity to handle uncertainty, incomplete data sets, the continuous overlap between technical and business offerings

- Strong collaborative foundation with an empathetic leadership approach

- Able to lead through influence and have strong teamwork and collaborative skills

- Excellent presentation skills to C-Suite leadership audience with both internal and external clients

- Must utilize design & ideation thinking methodology with a continuous creative approach to problem solving

- Travel up to 50% of the time
