Business Development Manager

About the Job

Maximo Asset Management is an Enterprise Asset Management software system that provides comprehensive support for asset, maintenance, resource and parts supply chain management. EMA provides Maximo consulting services to public sector and process control industries, including:

§  Maximo implementation, integration, training, and upgrades

§  Management and organizational consulting and process optimization

§  Performance management

§  GIS planning, design, implementation, and integration

§  Control systems engineering

 

The Maximo Business Development Manager (BDM) will develop opportunities related to Maximo services business in the public sector and drive new business development at the $1 million+ level. Develop leads and identify new validated opportunities. Identify, design, and implement creative business and technology solutions for organizations. Understand and leverage the full range of Maximo offerings. Productively position and build client relationships necessary to secure closings. Ensure that deals progress and close to meet goals.

 

This individual will also assist in the growth and development of the Maximo practice, and maintain deal focused relationships with clients and partners to scope, propose, close, and deliver projects. This role will participate in pre-sales activities, interviews, and client demonstrations.

 

On a daily basis, the Maximo BDM will:

·         Manage the Maximo BD process

·         Screen/validate and select which RFI/RFQ/RFP to pursue

·         Manage the proposal development and writing process working with a technical delivery team

·         Create and develop winning proposals in highly competitive markets

·         Manage the interview/demonstration process effectively

·         Coordinate scope and pricing for proposals including managing risk

·         Participate in the contract review process

 

Other responsibilities include: business case development, complex consulting client management experience at the top leadership level, and hands-on development of deliverables defined by structured methodology.

 

Education and Experience Required:

·         4-year degree in Business, Marketing, or related field

·         At least 5-10 years documented experience working with EAM solutions (Maximo systems preferred).  

·         At least 5-10 years experience in creative solutions-oriented business development in service or consulting industry.

·         At least 3-5 years public sector or utility industry experience.

·         At least 3-5 years team leadership or management experience.

·         Track record of sales within advanced solutions and delivery focus in recent 5 years

·         Documented experience in developing and maintaining long-term relationships at all levels throughout client organizations.

·         Understanding of operations of government agencies and public policies. (state, local level) and/or the utility industry (water, wastewater, electric, gas)

·         Public sector and/or utility industry experience.

·         Proven success in a complex, multi-level sales environment.

 

 

Preferred

·         Master's Degree

·         At least 5-10 years experience in business development in creative solutions-oriented business development in a service or consulting industry.

 

Skills and Abilities:

·         Excellent oral (conflict resolution, stand-up presentations, persuasive) and written (reports, proposals, workshop materials, and client correspondence) communication skills are a must, including experience with executive-level communication.

·         Willingness to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

·         Strong people-development skills: perform role of counselor/coach, provide input/guidance on staffing and actively participate in recruitment and retention.

·         Strong analytical skills.

·         Willingness to travel nationally to client locations.

·         Strategic thinking capacity to analyze and identify market trends.

·         Excellent relationship building skills. 

·         Expert consulting skills to provide the right solutions to meet client needs. 

·         Excellent facilitation skills to guide workshop planning and execution, conduct data gathering with clients, identify issues, develop workshop approach, and write workshop reports.

·         Excellent knowledge and understanding of the practice team’s area of expertise with demonstrated skill and experience in delivering this expertise on client projects.

·         Decision-making skills for applying professional/managerial principles and judgment, within overall direction established by senior management.

·         Problem-solving skills for creating previously unknown technology or original business approaches or significantly differentiating existing products or services.

·         Skill to develop and implement innovative solutions to address client problems.

·         Skilled at creating and executing business development plans.

·         Effective team-building skills to apply knowledge of group dynamics.

·         Excellent listening skills to establish meaning and verify understanding and/or agreement.

·         Ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships at all levels within client organizations.
