Position Description

Business Development, Manager

The RTI Health Solutions Business Unit (RTI-HS) is currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager for our Safety and Pharmacovigilance, Biometrics and Clinical Research Groups.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work closely with our safety and pharmacovigilance, biometrics and clinical research groups to identify and win new projects. The individual will secure and retain business for RTI-HS through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers at existing and new sponsors. The individual will position RTI-HS as a primary or preferred provider for safety, biometrics and clinical research work to be outsourced. Activities will include:
* Cultivate, develop and deliver new customers while optimizing the potential of the existing client base.
* Liaise between sponsors and RTI-HS
* Proactively communicate with client, business development team, senior management team and support staff during service cycle.
* Establish and maintain industry contacts and sources that identify and lead to the successful development of new business.
* Analyze product development pipelines from potential key clients that will lead to business opportunities
* Engage in customer relationship management of all new and existing clients occurring from initial contact through entire sales cycle
* Represent RTI-HS at meetings, events and conferences
* Maintain and understand current industry trends and business developments that affect target markets

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the clinical drug development process, especially as it relates to drug safety. The successful candidate will likely have had experience in a bio-pharmaceutical company and a CRO or other companies that provide R&D services to pharmaceutical-company clients and have a network of existing contacts.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
* An in-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology industry.
* Ability to drive in new requests for proposals.
* Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors.
* Proven track record at mid and high level contacts, as well as formal sales training
* Ability to manage and fully integrate with Operations, Finance, Bids & Contracts and Marketing, and follow-up to expand relationships and business opportunities
* Ability to identify and develop sales leads, professionally present capabilities, manage the sales process through close and support of contract negotiations
* Possess computer skills to handle sales automation systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and email
The candidate will have an undergraduate degree, preferably in life sciences. Graduate degree is a plus.
The position is based at RTI-HS' head office in RTP, NC.
