Our Medical Economics group seeks a Business Information Analyst/Consultant to be responsible for supporting the business unit by coordinating projects, providing analyses and reports, and monitoring changes to ensure minimal risk to the organization. Analytics activities include utilization analysis of our diagnostic imaging and other specialty medical products, pricing and financial data analysis for current and prospective clients, and special studies for large Health Plan customers and internal management.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops models to track and analyze operational data and prepares related reports and recommendations to management.
  • Tests assumptions, interprets, and conducts follow-up analysis. Identifies trends, alternatives, resolves discrepancies, and recommends solutions.
  • Uses SQL or related languages and analytics tools to extract needed operational data.
  • Creates project request and develops project work plans in conjunction with business and technical resources.
  • Researches impact of project on other areas of the organization.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of:

  • BA/BS in a related field such as business/healthcare, information science, or mathematical sciences
  • 2-4 years related operational and/or data analysis experience; experience in database structures, and standard query and reporting tools; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background
  • Working knowledge of current generation of tools to support analytics is essential - for example, MS Access, MS Excel, pivot tables, SQL and databases, statistical tools, visual analytics, and/or data mining
  • Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills essential
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills essential
  • Project management skills would be beneficial
  • Strong interpersonal skills - must be able to interface with management and executives, and with clinical staff.
  • Critical thinker and self-motivator with problem definition and analysis skills with attention to details.
