In support of our growth, we are seeking to add a Business Unit Manager of Controls and Automation/HVAC Product Manager position to our team.  PECO personnel regularly interface with our customers, suppliers, and coworkers across business unit lines within manufacturing, accounting, purchasing, sales & customer service, and engineering to analyze needs and develop solutions.  It is imperative to our growth that we have a team of individuals who are willing to challenge ideas and continuously strive to make improvements.

As a member of the senior management team, the Business Unit Manager for Controls and Automation will be accountable for a variety of matters ranging from strategic planning to operational execution.  More specifically, the Business Unit Manager:
 
Provides strategic leadership and direction setting in PECO’s functional (matrix) organization by establishing long-term (3-year) Business Unit plans which includes business development and product development activities and/or identifying add-on acquisitions:
  • Managing the sales team: visit customers, identify unmet needs and new product opportunities, perform market analysis and identify relevant industry trends
  • Working with Engineering personnel, stay abreast of relevant technology developments
  • Synthesize the above information and identify target markets / (sub)segments were PECO can compete successfully
  • Develop Product Roadmaps; Review with senior management as appropriate to gain buy-in for resourcing….Be an Advocate for the new products.
  • Launch Initial Business Proposals (IBP’s) or new product concepts / proposals. Track status and attainment of milestone.
  • Be visible within the product community and become a frequent speaker at industry forums.
  • Recommend bolt-on acquisition opportunities to CEO                                                                                                         
Provides tactical leadership and decision-making in performing day-to-day business management duties:
  • In collaboration with CEO, develop realistic and attainable Operating Plan budget that is broken out by customer and product
  • Prepare, review with CEO, and implement annual price adjustments.
  • Monitor monthly achievement of Revenue and Operating Income targets Operating Plan.
  • Assist sales, where possible, with periodic and helpful analysis comparing budget projections for customers and products with actual results.  
  • Proactively engage the sales force to provide meaningful customer and market feedback.
  • Intervene, as required, and implement adaptive plans which achieve Operating Income target. Plan adjustments should include specific programs to drive additional demand or curb operating expenses as appropriate.
Develops plans and secure Operating Plan funding for all relevant product marketing activities. Monitor and update these plans throughout the fiscal year:
  • Advertising plans
  • Tradeshow plans
  • Channel marketing programs and initiatives
  • Field support programs
  • Other company initiatives
  • Create and execute annual sales strategies and targets in support of Business Units: Maintain current customers; Enhance effectiveness of channels and partners; develop new customers and geographies.
  • Manage the customer interface: Provide customer service (inside sales) and field application support; Measure customer sat and drive plans to enhance the customer experience.
  • Provide market intelligence: Analyze buying trends of customer and product line; understand emerging customer needs and market trends.
Top candidates will have a 4-year degree in marketing or business and 10-15 years of increasing sales and marketing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the HVAC industry.  To be considered for the position, candidate must have experience in HVAC.  An advanced business degree is desirable, but not required.  Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills are a must.  The ability to think and work both strategically and operationally is essential.
