I.  Job Summary
Procures necessary materials, services, and supplies needed in the operation of the company.
 
II.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Other minor duties may be assigned. 
 
  • Insures prompt placement of assigned orders in accordance with established policy.

  • Maintains current price data, including trends and forecasts for assigned commodities.

  • Ensures dual sources of supply for all critical materials.

  • Develops and maintains volume agreements for repetitively purchased items.

  • Develops, implements, administers and communicates purchasing policies and procedures. Develops, implements, and maintains systems to facilitate the purchasing process.

  • Evaluates inventory levels for products and supplies, and monitors trends to determine order points and quantities.

  • Reviews purchase requisitions for accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures. Processes requisitions, clarifies specifications, and generates purchase orders in computer system. Contacts vendors to place orders.

  • Researches and selects vendors in given circumstances, assists departments in evaluating vendor performance. Obtains oral and/or written quotations from vendors when applicable.

  • Follows up back orders, expedites delivery, and makes special arrangements for delivery.
