Hours/Days Work:                    8:00AM – 4:30PM (Monday through Friday) Occasional extended hours.

PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES


The Buyer will be responsible for placing orders, sourcing materials, and obtaining quotes for new and existing products.  The incumbent is expected to track and maintain the status of their orders. 


Three plus years purchasing experience in raw materials and new product sourcing is preferred, including resin and coating materials and equipment dies, and new component purchasing.  The candidate should understand lean manufacturing concepts and experience in Microsoft Office and used ERP software.


 


 


SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


·         Purchase raw materials and work with Lens Manufacturing on die/mold purchases or configurations.


·         Source and develop good supplier partnerships for resin and coating materials, including inventory stocking programs.


·         Work closely with Product Managers on new product introductions; source suppliers, quotes, insure proper specifications and high quality.


·         Responsible for placing and maintaining purchase orders.


·         Track incoming purchase order receipts and take corrective action as required.  Clear communication on receipt dates that could affect operations.


·         Participate in purchasing and freight cost reduction initiatives that support company goals.


·         Process supplier credit applications.


·         Insure system integrity, i.e. supplier lead times, standard costs, purchase order receipt date


·         Maintain min/max volumes in database, re-order points, etc.


·         Work with QA and suppliers on generating and processing RMA’s.



  • Responsible for return/disposal of waste material.

·         Perform other duties as required.


 


Knowledge, Skill & Experience Requirements



  • Associates degree in Business or CPM, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • 3+ years experience in Purchasing.

  • Knowledge in sourcing and purchase resin and coating material a preferred.

  • Position requires someone who is self-motivated and proactive.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Must be detailed oriented, quick learner, and a team player.

  • Proficiency with MS Windows, especially strong Microsoft Excel.

  • Experienced with lean initiatives.

  • Familiarity with ISO.

  • Military experience is a plus.
