Job Description
This position is responsible for creating finite production schedules, coordinating the material availability required to execute those schedules, and purchasing activities for the locally controlled supply base. Coordinates with HQ Master Scheduling on overall supply and demand plans, configures MRP to drive planning and scheduling functions, reduces cost and frequency of expedited materials, and expedites materials as needed.
MAIN DUTIES: - Production Scheduling – Collaborate with Master Scheduling to create finite production schedules for assigned business units, balancing product supply and demand requirements with efficient utilization of plant assets and labor.
- Configure and utilize MRP to drive production scheduling and materials release schedules.
- Material Planning – Manage standard and blanket Purchase Orders and releases for material in support of production plans.
- Monitor receipts of materials to support production plans, expedite shipments as required.
- Minimize short lead orders and expediting through continuous improvement / configuration of MRP parameters.
- Reduce cost – Establish economic order quantities, responsible for obsolescence and days of supply/ inventory turn targets.
- Maintain accurate records for items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Purchasing – Negotiate with selected local suppliers for sourcing agreements. Establish “best cost” terms of sale and delivery.
- Supplier relations – Assist in the vendor approval process, developing alternate sources, and evaluating vendor performance. Establish delivery schedules. Acts as plant liaison to resolve quality, delivery and service issues with suppliers. Support the efforts associated with the selection of materials for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
- Coordinate commercialization efforts with R&D, Production and QA. Perform Item Setup and Item Maintenance duties in QAD. Assist in review of Bills of Material for Accuracy.
- Generate cost savings through spend analysis.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned by immediate supervisor.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: - Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills needed for dealing with internal and external customers.
- Experience with MRP/ ERP systems, preferably QAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, MRP (QAD).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with limited supervision.
- Willingness to assume responsibility for accuracy of work performed.
- Strong organizational skills; must be able to handle multiple tasks.

Job Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelors’ degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years experience in a purchasing and or scheduling position.
