Gems Sensors Inc. in Plainville, CT is seeking a Buyer/Planner. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for planning work orders and managing the Supply Chain/Material Control system in support of a designated Production Team.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
· Control and monitor customer and manufacturing order to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, favorable cost savings and increased inventory turns
· Be responsible and accountable for the daily management of the material control system for the designated Production Team and your assigned commodities
· Coordinate production schedule and cell demand schedule with Production Supervisors
· Manage daily interaction with suppliers to achieve a high level of on time delivery performance
· Drive quality and productivity (team effectiveness and efficiency) improvements using DBS principles
· Act as change agent to implement constant state of improvement by "doing things differently"
· Drive correct part plan and increase number of parts on visual replenishment
· Improve on time performance for the designated Production Team through the proactive management of supplier deliveries
· Track root causes for on time delivery and suggest and implement appropriate corrective actions
· Provide delivery dates for overdue customer orders
· Improve inventory turns for designated Production Team
· Implement and resize OEM Kanbans as required
· Assist in the development of new Order Management Process that supports the future state
