In support of our growth, we are seeking to add a Buyer/Planner to our supply chain team.  This position will perform purchasing duties requiring specialized knowledge and experience, and ensure inventory levels are managed according to company objectives and industry best practices.

PECO’s materials personnel work directly with customers, suppliers and inside manufacturing, accounting, customer service, sales, and engineering groups to analyze needs and develop solutions.

The ideal candidate will have proven knowledge in the areas of:

  • Perform routine MRP analysis in support of forecast and customer requirements. Ensure material availability (on hand, on order supports fluctuation in demand and respond accordingly.)
  • May source capital equipment, including tooling and machines.  Production and NPI sourcing may be domestic or international.  May be required to develop and execute a sourcing project using timelines and accountabilities, project budget, and a supplier purchasing agreement.
  • Prepares purchase orders and procures materials to support production plans; interacts with Production/Assembly, Engineering, Suppliers and subcontractors to ensure procurement of materials within approved schedules and quality specifications.
  • May create and implement other special purchasing programs with company suppliers including KanBan, JIT delivery, bread man systems, outsourcing, etc.
  • Monitors purchase orders, maintaining current information and interacts cross-departmentally to resolve material and purchase order issues.
  • Through interaction with internal customers and external suppliers, develops schedules, provides level loading, and makes decisions to firm plan, release and or defer job orders based on MRP demand, capacity, and material availability.
  • Communicates with Engineering, Warehouse, Team Leads, and Customer Service to insure timely completion of work orders.
  • Works closely with Engineering to maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOM) manufacturing plan, NPI, and obsolete of old product.
  • Using sound NPI practices to launch new products with suppliers, both domestically and internationally as required
  • Experience in exporting components, as required, to support production schedules with international suppliers
  • Experience with working in an environment where export controls are applicable
  • Performs MRB related functions that pertain to suppliers (RTV, Debit Memos, etc) to ensure timely response.
  • Provide reports and power point charts to management on an as needed basis and month end review.
  • Works closely with Supply Chain Manager, Master Scheduler and Manufacturing Engineering on LEAN projects (5S,VSM, POU, KANBANs) 

The right candidate will have demonstrated analytical skills in interpreting data and developing solutions. Five years of purchasing experience with proven cost reduction results and experience in an electronics manufacturing or mechanical manufacturing environment is required.  You will be working within a great team of motivated individuals and therefore a good team working attitude, strong communication and documentation skills are required.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of Purchasing and or Planning experience and a bachelor’s degree or demonstrated equivalent experience. 
Demonstrated competency in international purchasing of components, sub assemblies, and finished goods, both mechanical and or electronic assemblies.
Implementation of procurement of new items resulting from new product development
Preparation and monitoring of purchase orders and procurement of materials for production
Creation and implementation of special purchasing programs including Kanban, JIT delivery, Breadman systems, outsourcing, etc.
