Job Description


 


Hands-on experienced buyer who will be responsible for Purchasing and Materials availability through timely order placements.  Successful candidate will have 5+ years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.


Ideal candidate will have experience managing Production Schedules.  This is a second priority; candidates with strong Purchasing backgrounds will be trained in scheduling.


 


Job responsibilities:


 


Purchasing



  • Will be responsible for purchases (and returns) of required materials, components and parts to support production and sales requirements. Communicate with internal /external customers and vendors regarding stocking, ordering and deliveries
  • Support Engineering in material acquisitions during new project development
  • Placing P/O’s, follow through and update Management on status of deliveries based on schedule and sales reports
  • Negotiate expedites and de-expedites with vendors to meet the production/sales requirements
  • Locate and develop suppliers for new projects/requirements driven by design/production group
  • Conduct supplier qualifications survey and establish system to record delivery times (on/off)
  • Observe, propose and implement purchasing strategies to minimize the stock level through implementation of JIT or VMI options.
  • Responsible for handling Rejected materials (return to vendors, scraps etc) and correct processing through the system to constantly maintain the correct inventory levels in the system and actual stock
  • Establish and implement programs to document the proper handling of requisitions, orders, receipt, customer returns and stock shortages   
  • Under general supervision, work with Inventory personnel in helping to organize stock operations
  • Under the general supervision drive company’s RoHS Compliance program to it’s successful completion
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 


Scheduling



  • Build and maintain schedule for subassemblies and final assemblies
  • Manage Work Order Travelers
  • Organize and maintain Production Records
  • Communicate with internal /external customers regarding order status and schedule changes

  • Understanding and experience in JIT, TQM, KANBAN and other world class manufacturing practices supporting current and enabling further growth of organization
  • Strong working knowledge MRP and PC database MGT software (MAS 500 highly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of word-processing software, spreadsheets (Excel)
  • Good understanding of forms and flow of BOMs, Travelers, Requisitions, RMAs, DMRs,
