At Aerojet, our employees help with space exploration by developing and manufacturing rocket engines that are used on satellites and spacecraft. We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our Machine Shop. This is a day shift position that typically works Mondays through Thursdays from 5:00am to 3:30pm. Candidates must be willing and able to work overtime or other shifts as needed in order to meet product delivery schedules.100% - Under the general supervision of the Machine Shop Supervisor or designee, the CNC Programmer will expertly program (in Esprit 2001 or Unigraphics) for hardware to run on CNC lathes and mills. Typical duties include: -Reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints and machine code. -Understanding Fanuc and Okuma controls. -Working with drafting and solid models in Unigraphics. -Tooling design and/or working with Tool Engineering group. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: -Ordering shop tooling and supplies. -Working with outside vendors for tooling management and inventory. -Interacting with machine tool sales personnel for purchasing new shop equipment. -Other duties as assigned. Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 7 years of related experience. Thorough knowledge of machining aerospace materials such as aluminum, tool, alloy, carbon steels, stainless steel, titanium, plastics and Inconel is needed. Must understand and be able to use trigonometry. Requires the willingness and ability to work overtime as necessary. Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency, or other status as a U.S. Person. Note: Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is regularly expected to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee will need to work near moving mechanical parts and in loud working conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, chemicals or airborne particles.
