SUMMARY

Coordinates all company accounting activities and supports company operations by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information; managing staff; and maintaining office systems.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Promotes “customer service” throughout the school.
  2. Ensures that all admission procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  3. Accomplishes human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures.
  4. Maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures; preparing payroll; controlling correspondence; maintaining appropriate inventory levels; reviewing and approving supply requisitions; collaborating with vendors and negotiating optimum prices; communicating with vendors and customers.
  5. Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  6. Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  7. Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports.
  8. Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts; defining accounting policies and procedures, and monitoring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  9. Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
  10. Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
  11. Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation; enforcing accounting regulations; recommending new procedures.
  12. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  13. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Must have extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local financial/legal requirements and the ability to advise management on required actions, including tax preparation. 
  2. Must be able to communicate within a multicultural environment.
  3. Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  4. Must be an effective leader and manager.
  5. 1+ years of work experience in accounting with strong knowledge of GAAP.
  6. General Ledger experience (required).
  7. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  8. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  9. Ability to prioritize projects accordingly and multi-task (essential).
  10. Ability to analyze business financials and make appropriate pricing, expense and margin recommendations.
  11. Must be able to develop, implement and evaluate budgets.
  12. Must have strong project management and organizational skills.
  13. Knowledge of break-even and income statement preparation and evaluation.
  14. Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  15. Must have knowledge of a variety of computer hardware and software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, bookkeeping software, database and presentation software (MSWord, Advanced Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  16. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

 Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance is required; a minimum of one year experience and current CPA Certification.
