Position Descriptions:  

Engineering Specialist

·         0 – 3 years experience (co-op or internship is enough), focus is on tasks, very small pieces of smaller projects, just getting started

Engineering Associate Project Coordinator

·         35 years of experience, small projects or pieces of larger projects

Engineering Project Coordinator

·         68 years of experience, leading small, more straight-forward capital projects

 

The individual in this role will be required to work closely with other engineers, as well as cross-functionally with individuals in Operations, Maintenance, Purchasing, and with external Contractors to scope, commission, perform safety design studies and assist in startups for capital projects.  Reporting to the Engineering Department based at the company’s corn wet-milling and bio-refinery facility located in Keokuk, IA

 

General Overall Main Responsibilities

·         Lead and support capital projects to success by providing engineering technical expertise, ensuring safe, compliant and reliable project execution and operation.  Plan and execute capital projects effectively, as well as support the Keokuk facility’s future plant expansions.

·         Provide safety leadership relative to capital projects managed or supported.

·         Work collaboratively with cross-functional departments, contractors, andthe company’sGroup Engineering to scope, develop and implement projects and/or pieces of larger programs.

·         Develop and/or review documentation such as P&IDs, PFDs, specifications for RFQs, and vendor drawings for functionality, accuracy and suitability.

·         Engineer equipment requirements such as size and selection of tanks, pumps, filters, conveyors, fans, dust collectors, pipeline (compressible and non-compressible flows), and valves (automatic and manual) consistent with site standards.

·         Develop installation standards and work instructions for equipment. 

·         Supportdevelopment ofnew equipment standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides.

·         Plan and supervise project commissioning, testing,and start up activities.

·         Provide troubleshooting support to Operations on technical issues involving new and existing equipment, structures, or systems.

·         Maintain current knowledge of industry safety and engineering technology advances and changes relative to process equipment and systems.

 

Qualifications

·         BA or BS in Mechanical, Civil or Chemical Engineering required

·         Experience in Project Management, Engineering or Production within a process oriented industry is desired (e.g. corn wet milling, chemical, pulp & paper, pharmaceutical,food)

·         Prior Capital Project execution experience required

·         Multidisciplinary engineering skills preferred

·         Demonstrated experience in project scoping, estimating methods and developing RFQs.

·         Demonstrated excellent technical skills and engineering knowledge

·         Demonstratedunderstanding of and experience working with P&I Diagrams, AutoCAD and SmartSketch

·         OSHA 10 or 40-Hour Training and practical application of training preferred

·         Demonstrated ability to integrate safety into project development through execution and lead and support safety reviews

·         Demonstratedworking understanding of environmental agency requirements and compliance.

·         Familiarity with processing unit operationssuch as centrifuges, ion exchange systems, crystallization systems, chromatographic separation, powder handling and packaging systems, batch reactors, multi-stage evaporation, drying equipment, tanks and vessels, process and utility piping, heat exchangers, boiler utility systems (e.g. steam, compressed air), pumps, and valves desired

·         Familiarity with process Distributed Control Systems desired

·         Demonstratedstrong troubleshooting and problem solving skills

·         Demonstrated clear, informative, persuasive and collaborative verbal and written communication skills.  Command of English and French language is a plus.

·         Demonstratedstrong teamwork skills, with the ability to lead, participate and/or work directly with cross-functional teams and/or individuals

·         Demonstrated excellent computer skills, especially Windows NT / XP, Microsoft XL, Outlook, Power Point and Word
