We are currently seeking a Carbon Sequestration Field Operations Manager. This position located in Columbus, Ohio.
Battelle's Energy Technology Global Business has been at the forefront of carbon sequestration research and demonstration operations for several years through our leadership in the Midwest Regional Carbon Sequestration Program for the Department of Energy as well as in several commercial endeavors. We are expanding our team and services to support rapid growth in large-scale carbon sequestration operations. We are actively seeking an experienced field operator to oversee our well drilling and injection operations throughout the Midwest region.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position will be responsible for managing the field operations of our CO2 injection programs, which typically operate on a 24-hr per day, seven days per week schedule. The applicant must be knowledgeable in the technical, cost, and schedule issues associated with the installation and operation of deep wells for geologic storage of carbon dioxide. The selected candidate will be expected to organize and implement field projects, including scheduling and mobilizing staff, selecting vendors, and managing performance to meet cost and schedule deadlines, as well as troubleshooting technical and operational issues. These projects carry significant health, safety, and financial risks, so the applicant should be able to utilize team resources and, as needed, make field decisions independently to maintain a safe, cost-effective, and efficient work site.
This position is based out of Battelle's headquarters in Columbus, OH, as part of the Energy Systems and Carbon Management business unit, but travel will be required to oversee the sequestration implementation projects throughout the Midwest United States.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or related technical area
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a site manager for deep well drilling and operations for either the oil and gas industry or for CO2 injection projects
- Knowledge of research, design, and engineering issues associated with deep well injection and operations, such as geologic prospect evaluation, drilling and completion procedures, fracture stimulation, piping, workovers, etc.
