This position is located in the Marshall Islands. You must be willing to relocate single status. Housing, utilities, and meals are included.
JOB DUTIES:
- Under limited supervision is engaged in fabrication, installation, and repair of cabinets, counterparts, furniture, doors/window, and other kinds of wood, plastic laminate, fiberglass, and metal fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- Maintains and operates shop equipment, e.g., saws, planners, sanders, shapers, etc.
- Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate complexity.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and be able to supervise other personnel as needed.
- Receives direction from the COOM Shop Lead Carpenter and Supervisors as may be applicable.
- Adheres to all Company safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Responsible for work accomplished in accordance with published schedules.
- Coordinates work within the work center or shop.
- Develops shop operation manuals and trains personnel to maintain and operate shop equipment.
- Orders parts/supplies to replenish bench stocks and accomplish assigned work.
- Ensures material usage is consistent with scheduled work activity.
- Develops material take-off lists as directed.
- Estimates/reports on project completion times/dates and maintains records of work accomplishments and staff time expended; makes informal estimates of production capability that is used in planning and estimating budget needs.
- Interprets drawings, sketches, and blueprints to determine scope of work.
- Assists in planning and implementing special projects, ongoing major projects and possible future requirements based on age and usage of buildings and structures.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Required: Minimum five years carpentry experience at the journeyman level in a shop/construction environment responsible for the maintenance and operation of shop saws, planners, sanders, shapers, etc.. Experience should include a well-rounded background in repair and maintenance of residential cabinet and furniture fabrication and installation. To include but not limited to fabrication and installation of door/windows and their associated components. Fabrication and installation of countertops, shelf units, and other building fixtures. Ability to work with wood, plastic laminates, fiberglass, and metal. Ability to design and construct special jigs. Good knowledge of applicable building codes and their application for purposes of evaluation of buildings and structures, their components, associated appurtenances, property uses and their condition. Ability to prepare written reports, correspondence, and maintain accurate records. Writes clearly and informatively; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information and blueprints.
- Desired: 10 years experience in the residential carpentry and construction field.
EXPERIENCE (Years):
- Required: 5 years required as a Licensed Journeyman.
- Desired: 10 years desired with a commercial contractors license.
EDUCATION:
- Required: High School Diploma and completion of formal apprentice training program
Desired: 2 year degree from an eccredited technical school with masters license.
