Category Development Manager - Minneapolis


PURPOSE OF THIS JOB

This highly analytical, organized, and self-driven individual will utilize data from multiple resources to analyze market situations to provide knowledge, direction and selling tools for the Regional Field Sales organization. Must be insight driven to recognize opportunities and determine conclusions about the data versus only pulling data/reports for results. Extensive knowledge of using syndicated data (ACNielsen, IRI, and/or Spectra) and Plan-o-gramming software (Spaceman, Apollo and/or JDA Intactics). Strong PC proficiency is required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

MAJOR ACTIVITIES TO ENSURE ACHIEVEMENT OF KEY RESULTS AND DELIVERABLES

1. Provide analysis of category and Brand trends to maximize sales effectiveness and increase return on marketing funds

2. Create and deliver regular category reviews for the Business Units and for Key Retail Customers

3. Analyze and provide direction on key priorities and execution

4. Develop best practice tools to share across Nation

5. Train and develop fact-based selling tools for various levels of the Field organization, from Route Account Managers to National Account Managers

6. Develop Regional merchandising standards within National Guidelines

7. Maintain and localize the National Sales Presentation tool(s)

8. Initiate Category Management discussions and process with appropriate Regional Customers by establishing partnerships with Key Retailers

9. Support the Business Plan Process at the Regional and Field Cell levels

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

1. Minimum 3-5 years Sales Experience or Customer Marketing Role

2. University – Bachelor’s Degree required

3. Travels 25-35%

4. Must be proficient in syndicated data information, such as Nielsen or IRI, and Plan-o-gram software, such as Spaceman or JDA Intactics

5. Must be proficient in Excel / Power Point; Database Management a plus

6. Excellent analytical skills are needed not only to evaluate, but to provide useful, actionable field tools that are clear, meaningful, and delivered in a timely manner

7. Strong communication skills are required to express analytics to various levels in the organization; as well as, the ability to deliver presentations and training

8. In-depth knowledge of the consumer goods industry including class of trade, customer groups, category, competitive products, competitive strategies and industry trends
