Job Title: Category Specialist- IT Banking and Operations

Location: Detroit, MI/Auburn Hills, MI

Job Description:

The Category Specialist for Financial Services Information Technology and Professional Services is a seasoned procurement professional with deep experience in the sourcing and category management of both services and IT-related goods (primarily software and hardware) for Financial Services institutions. Candidates will generally have both a significant amount of breadth in sourcing both IT and non-IT categories throughout their career, as well as depth in a particular area of Information Technology and/or Professional Services for FS firms.

The Category Specialist for Financial Services IT and Professional Services will provide leadership in four key areas of responsibility:

· Supply Sourcing

· Procurement Enablement

· Transaction Management

· Category and Supplier Maintenance

Among other tasks, the Category Specialist will be charged with Category Mastery - owning insight into industry trends, benchmarks, best- and emerging practices, global thought leadership, and key supplier intelligence.

The Category Specialist will be responsible for actively uncovering Sourcing opportunities via rigorous spend analysis, determining compliance gaps and contract coverage opportunities, performing spot buying and working with business colleagues to understand priorities and budgeting for future initiatives. Once a Category Specialist receives approval to proceed, they will work with the suppliers and/or the client to carry out sourcing or change programs to achieve the target savings or improvements. This may include direct sourcing efforts, or process/policy based initiatives such as developing communications programs with the suppliers and/or the client's employees, direct conversations with suppliers regarding proper billing, or joint client and Accenture teams focused on driving correct behavior in compliance to buying from preferred suppliers or contracts

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

· 5-10 years of experience in Sourcing and Procurement

· Relevant experience must include at least three of the following:

o Category Management

o Operational Procurement

o Strategic Sourcing

o Tactical Buying

o Spend Analysis

o Sourcing Strategy

o Sourcing Contract Development

· Minimum of 3 years in working in a cross-functional team

· Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated deep analytical and quantitative skills

· Minimum of 3 years experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access)

· 4 year Bachelors degree required

Required Skills and Attributes:

· Ability to work independently within a simple framework consisting of high level strategies and key objectives, and be able to determine the appropriate tactics and measures to achieve results.

· Ability to quickly work through abstract problems and interrelated issues to understand priorities and provide strategy and structure to work

· Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

· Must display professionalism and confidence

· Excellent customer relationship skills

· Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills

· Ability to interact with all levels of management within Accenture and at Client

Preferred Functional Experience:

· Professional Procurement Qualification (CIPS/CPM or equivalent preferred)

· Postgraduate degree in Business, Economics, Science or Engineering (especially technology related)

· Proven track record in managing complex, multidisciplinary projects

· Supervisory and coaching skills a strong asset

· Proven global expertise and perspective; executive level presence and influence

· Excellent negotiation, influence, mediation & conflict management skills

· Excellent business acumen and industry acumen

· Experience in implementing and operating e-sourcing/procurement technology such as any of the following: Emptoris, Ariba or other similar applications
