About the Center

The purpose of the Prince William Comprehensive Center is to provide workforce development services to unemployed and underemployed individuals and to businesses in a one-stop environment.  The one stop environment is intended to provide quality customer service in an efficient and effective manner through partnerships with multiple public agencies and organizations. 

 

Our vision is of a vibrant region that is economically competitive.

 

The Center is part of the Northern Virginia Workforce System and as such adheres to the systems, policies and procedures established by the Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board for program operations and for quality service delivery. The Center is located at 13370 Minnieville Road, Woodbridge, VA  22192.

 

Description in Brief

The Center Manager functions as the operations manager for the Center.  In that capacity, she/he oversees scheduling and coverage of the shared customer functions delivered in the center.  Responsibilities include being an active member of the Continuous Quality Improvement Team (CQI), preparing reports and financial data, training and oversight of partner staff, and customer relations. The position requires strong computer and Internet research skills, calling for flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside customers and vendors.

The ideal candidate for Center Director possesses:

Responsibilities and Tasks

Responsibilities and Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Priorities

  • Coordinate work flow
  • Process management for consistency and quality
  • Update and chase delegated tasks to ensure progress to deadlines
  • Keep workshops and other services on schedule
  • Maintain procedures manual to ensure consistent performance of routines

 

Communication

  • Compose correspondence to answer customer requests
  • Check deadlines on incoming requests and initiate preliminary work outputs
  • Research, draft or abstract reports

 

Technology

  • Use technology for record keeping and scheduling

 

Appointments/Meetings

  • Create schedules
  • Maintain calendar
  • Maintain contact management system
  • For Partnership Leadership Team meetings

       -Be prepared to present Center issues needing Leadership direction and/or approval

 

Confidentiality

  • Assure discreet handling of all customer business

 

Data Management

  • Improve storage and retrieval systems
  • Update and manage index

Projects

  • Handle administrative detail for all projects

 

Supervision

  • As required train and supervise part-time or unpaid/volunteer secretarial or clerical staff

 

This position is an employee of the SkillSource Group Inc. and reports directly to the Prince William Comprehensive Center Leadership Team, and the SkillSource Group, Inc. President and CEO.

 

Required Qualifications:                                                                                                     
(1) Bachelor's degree in business or public administration. (2) Experience in working with the private and nonprofit sectors; (3) Proven ability to manage an office; (4) Some experience in the coordination of events;  (5) Ability to listen and communicate effectively as well as good presentation skills;  (6) Demonstrated ability to multi-task; (7) Skilled in using information technology.

 

Compensation
