What you will do

Under general direction, responsible for the
design, configuration, and operation of complete CUP (Central Utility Plant)
control systems. This would Include other low voltage control sub-systems, and
3rd party integrations to meet the intent of the project
requirements.  Accountable to field teams
for quality, timeliness and efficiency of designs.  Develops complex software programs, commissioning and troubleshooting to ensure proper
operations of the CUP control system. Provides detailed information and
submittals to communicate design and operation of CPO (Central Plant
Optimization) to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls field installation
team and subcontractors.


 

How you will do it


  1. Designs
    and configures technically complex Central Utility Plant (CUP) control systems
    as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of
    operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as
    required.

  2. Develops
    and tests software programs necessary to operate the system per the intent of
    the project requirements.

  3. Provides advanced technical support on application or
    implementation issues. Serves as an expert in application engineering.

  4. Selects,
    orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned projects.  Coordinates factory-mounting processes to
    meet factory and project schedule.

  5. Assists
    in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as
    required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and
    troubleshoots problems with Branch personnel, subcontractors and other trades
    to ensure proper operation.

  6. Provides
    field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built
    drawings and software. Responsible for Change Request coordination among
    teams. 

  7. Develops
    and maintains viable relationships with customers, consultants and architect
    engineers. Leverages these relationships as needed during project development
    and execution.

  8. Assists
    in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the CPO control
    system.

  9. Participates
    in release meeting with project field team. 
    Maintains high level of engineering standards.  Ensures maximum reuse of proven designs and
    programs.

  10. Works
    with Major Projects and Branch teams to ensure timely delivery of CPO
    engineering deliverables in order to maximize successful execution of projects.

  11. May
    provide work direction to others as needed.

  12. Performs
    complex engineering and supports network commissioning as required on assigned projects.

  13. Adheres
    to safety standards.  High degree of
    regard to employee and subcontractor safety.












What we look for


  • Bachelor’s
    Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. 

  • Prior
    experience in supervision of technical / engineering group a plus. 

  • Minimum
    of eight years of progressive responsibility in the Controls industry. 

  • Master’s
    degree or Professional Engineer Registration desired. 

  • Recognized
    as a leading expert in several core engineering competencies and specifically
    CUP control strategies.

  • Good
    oral and written communication skills, especially in presentation of technical
    material.  Demonstrated experience in the
    integration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industry
    protocols (i.e. LON, BACnet, Modbus, etc).

  • Ability
    to travel up to 50%, some international travel may be necessary.
