GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Responsible to the Director of Nursing, RN, LPN and Physician. Performs a variety of tasks as an entry-level worker on the health care team. Introduces the client and/or client's family into the health care system. Is the liaison between the client's, client's family and health care providers. Obtains vital signs: (1) Blood pressure; (2) Heart rate (pulse); (3) Respiratory rate; (4) temperature (orally, auxiliary, or recta). Some evening and Saturday hours may be required. Must be willing to rotate among all SMC clinics. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education or GED and accredited Medical Assistant Course; and/or 1-2 years of experience in a health care setting and certified by the American Association of Medical Assistants. Must maintain certification by either re-examination or continuing education credit (CEU). CEU's are obtained by attending AAMA approved programs. Bilingual a plus.
