Certified Nursing Assistant
Arbor Glen of Bridgewater is seeking experienced Certified Nursing Assistants to join our team!
Under the supervision and direction of the nurse, a CNA is to provide direct care to the residents and perform related duties as assigned by the nursing team in a professional and respectful manner.
¨ Observe and immediately report any change in a resident’s condition to the nurse.
¨ Answer all call lights / as well as all types of alarms in a timely manner and make sure they are working properly at the beginning of each shift and throughout the shift as needed.
¨ Reviews and follows the nursing care plan and assignment for each resident daily.
¨ Give and receive shift report from the nurse and CNA.
¨ Responds to all emergency situations following appropriate policies and procedures.
¨ Assists residents with their activities of daily living; showering, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, personal hygiene and provide assistance with any supportive equipment.
¨ Completes ADL sheets of his/her residents daily.
¨ Assists and safely transfers residents as needed from bed to chair as well as assisting with ambulation as required.
¨ Escorts and transports residents within Arbor Glen and on campus as needed.
¨ Distributes linens and towels. Makes up bed daily and assures lines are clean.
¨ Assists residents, as needed and requested with tidying up their room.
¨ Runs errands for nursing as needed.
¨ Weighs residents on admission, monthly and as requested.
¨ Takes blood pressure, temperature and pulse as requested.
¨ Assists with admitting, discharging and transfer of residents.
¨ Assists in the dining room during all meals. Provide tray service to residents who may be unable to attend the dining room.
¨ Maintains proper infection control and isolation techniques.
¨ Cleans common areas, utility room and equipment as needed
¨ Follows policies for waste disposal, health cleanliness etc.
¨ Assists with implementation of resident activities such as creating and implementing activities to meet individual needs.
¨ Practices careful and judicious use of supplies and equipment and reports damaged or faulty equipment to unit nurse.
¨ Provides a pleasant and safe home-like environment for residents, their visitors and other staff.
¨ Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
¨ Is knowledgeable of and ensures all care is provided within the framework of the Philosophy and concepts of SNF: individuality, privacy, dignity and independence.
¨ Ensures that “Resident Rights” are respected at all times. This includes but is not limited to self-determination, fair and equitable treatment, freedom from abuse or neglect and the right to wage complaints.
¨ Maintains discretion in the use of personal information. Complies with all HIPPA regulations.
¨ Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in Skilled Nursing communities.
¨ Assists in the development of policies and procedures with the nursing department.
¨ Participates in in-service, health and service planning for residents.
¨ Attends as required staff meetings, committees, conferences and shift reports.
¨ Complies with all employee policies including health requirements, dress code and attendance.
¨ Assumes other duties and responsibilities as required or as assigned by nursing.
¨ Completion of high school or equivalency diploma.
¨ Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program and licensure by the State of New Jersey.
¨ A minimum of 2 year experience as a C N A
¨ Strong inter-personal skills necessary in order to communicate and cooperate, to respond effectively to instructions and requests from a diverse group of residents, visitors and staff with ordinary courtesy and tact.
¨ Excellent oral and written communication skills in English over the phone and in person.
¨ Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
¨ Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and completes them.
¨ May require more than 40 hours a week to perform essential duties of position.
¨ Availability for work on all shifts, weekends and holidays.
¨ Ability to determine when help is needed and whom to ask.
¨ Possess an understanding of and support the mission and philosophy of Arbor Glen.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (i.e. frequent sitting, stooping, lifting, standing, typing, etc.)
¨ Able to lift or move items up to 50 pounds without assistance, stand for long periods of time, reach bend and perform other functions as usually performed by a C N A.
¨ Capable of transferring persons weighing 150 lbs or less.
¨ Uses proper body mechanics to avoid injury.
¨ Good physical and mental health.
¨ Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate equipment.
¨ Visual and aural acuity to be able to detect changes in a resident’s condition.
¨ Intermittent exposure to some unpleasant working conditions.
¨ Exposure to potential contagious disease.
¨ Possibility of strain or injury due to moving residents
¨ Mandatory overtime is required for call outs, inclement weather and emergencies if replacements can not be found.
