Cheminformatics Pre-Sales Scientist

We’re looking for a scientist to work closely with customers and the Accelrys sales team to provide pre-sales support for Accelrys’ desktop and enterprise Cheminformatics products and services. This role offers the ability to work closely with customers to help them discover their scientific and business needs and to convey the capabilities of Accelrys in meeting those requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with the sales team providing scientific and technical presentations to promote our products and services, both to new and existing customers. Other key responsibilities will include providing marketing input for product development, coordinating the delivery of services by departments within the company, and proactively managing customer accounts in concert with the sales team. Due to the high customer-facing nature of the role, it requires someone with outstanding interpersonal skills and a willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
The qualified candidate will possess at least a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field, although a more advanced degree is preferred. Enterprise level chemistry database installation, management, and optimization especially Accord, Isis Host/Base, Isentris, or CambridgeSoft products is preferred. Expertise with Pipeline Pilot and technical knowledge in one or more of the following is highly desirable: Java, Jsp, Ajax, Oracle, Pl/Sql, scripting. Oracle database installation and maintenance experience would be an advantage.
