Chemistry Faculty Vacancy

August 2010

Castleton State College seeks applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Natural Sciences beginning August 2010. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field (ABDs close to completion are encouraged to apply) and evidence of commitment to undergraduate education. The position includes teaching introductory level chemistry with associated laboratories, analytical chemistry, courses that contribute to Castleton's general education program, and environmental chemistry or other courses in the candidate's area of interest. Castleton places a special value on the teaching role of its faculty, and candidates for this position will be evaluated principally on the basis of their potential to be outstanding teachers. We particularly invite applications from candidates interested in promoting science education in local schools, contributing to the college's civic engagement and sustainability initiatives, and supporting undergraduate research. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues are also essential. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. Castleton is a small state college located in the beautiful lakes region of western Vermont.
